This is dangerous territory I’m stepping into, the bane of the sedan and sports car. However, we’ve had spy shots of the new 2020 Explorer Police Interceptor (the next-gen RWD Explorer). And I gotta say if the civilian model looks as good as this...
I kinda want one. Especially if it’s a bit smaller than the current one. And even that one is a good looking SUV

I’m just looking forward to the hybrid model.

I fell asleep.

I like the new Expedition but I have no need or desire for something that big.

I don’t really like driving Crossovers/SUVs but if I have to, I’d rather go for a Lincoln. Other ones I have seen/read are great to drive that I might be actually interested in are X3 40i and Durango SRT and of course a Macan.

Came here expecting an SUV, disappointed to see CUV discussion....

If it’s RWD but on a unibody (like the Grand Cherokee and Durango, and
upcoming Explorer & Aviator) is it an SUV
or CUV?

Agreed, though the Aviator looks sweet as heck. If Lincoln makes it within 99% of the concept, it may take away the handsomest SUV/CUV titles away from the Velar, F-Pace, and XC60.

A coworker has the current Explorer Sport and I think it’s a pretty good looking vehicle. It’s too big for what I need but I can understand why people buy them. If you really want to hear screams, I’m considering an Edge ST for my next car. In a couple of years and used, of course. I’m still an Oppo after all.

Not many RWD biased CUVs on the market...

“Crossover” implies truck bits and car bits coming together. Durango: RWD (truck) and unibody (car), so it’s a CUV. Alex on Autos articulates it a bit better: (starts at 1:45)

It’s a CUV.
SUVs are BOF or truck based, neither of which are true for anything you’ve listed.

Yet we’re looking at one right now.....

I am very surprised at the RWD change, really something I didn't expect. I would be way more interested in this SUV but the Aviator is so damn good looking my mind tends to go straight to it.

True, but RWD-based tall wagons like the JGC, M-B ML, and similar sometimes seem to get a pass and called SUVs due to their off-road prowess.
With your definition (which I largely agree with) the only current
US-market SUVs are the Expedition/Navigator and their lengthier variants
, 4Runner/GX, Land Cruiser/LX, Sequoia
,
tahoe/yukon/escalade/suburban/yukon xl/escalade esv (do they still call it that?), Armada/QX80,
and
maybe the Galandewagen(
?) I think.

Honestly, they get a pass because manufacturers know “SUV” sells better than “CUV”, combined with journalists and the general population being to dumb to know the difference.
The list of true SUVs still produced today is pretty short, I think you pretty much got them all.
